Saturday morning (Feb. 18)

How wonderful to see Jan looking out at me, after a whole week! Her right eye is opening at bit now in addition to her left. She is doing her best to smile from time to time, although it is difficult with all the tubes.

This morning, she was a little subdued compared to yesterday, but no one is surprised by this. There is still a long way to go, and there are still serious risks, but we are so grateful for the progress to date.

We are entering a period of decision making for the medical team: when to take the breathing tube out, when to move Jan from CrCU to the Neurology ICU, whether and when to give Jan sedation so she rests more, etc.

Please pray that God will continue to heal Jan's brain and protect her from the risks that remain. Please pray that God will guide the medical team to make the right decisions.

As the second week starts, we renew our hopes and refill our arsenals with the certainty that Jan will continue her progress until she will be able to join us soon in a celebration for her full recovery.

Let's not give up. Let's see in the small steps Jan is taking, the beauty and strength of her soul, the determination of her heart to continue enjoying your love, your joy, and your friendship in her path.

Dearest Jan
You don't know me. We've just met thanks to the miracles of modern technology.
But we DO know one another through Christ. And I want you to know that you are in our prayers. Not only for you, but for all who love you and are caring for you.
Trust that spirit that dwells within you, especially when your own spirit is weary. Do not be afraid to call out for help. Do not hesitate to say if you're afraid. We shall keep you in our prayers and continue to check this site.

*I 'think' you are in North America. I have only guessed this because of the use of the word 'Tylenol.' Wherever you are, we are all in God's world.

May God's light shine upon you today and for all your tomorrows. For each day brings His promise of a new dawn.
