Jan's first words

This is a quick blog to share with you the excitement of today:

-In response to a note in a lap top from Angie (her cousin) saying: Hi, Jan I miss you, Jan wrote: Hi.

-Later in the day, Jan pulled out again the NG tube twice (she did it last night too), So the nurses decided to keep it off. Since this is was the only way she could eat, now she has to actually swallow in order to drink some thick nutritional solution.

-In the evening, as I was going for my last visit, Steve called and ask me to speak to Jan over the phone. She whispered several words of which I could make clearly a few: Please call....love...my. When I arrived at her room, she continued the conversation for a good five minutes, whispering something that neither Steve or I could understand. It must be very frustrating to have clear ideas in her mind of what she wants to say, and not be able to do it. Nonetheless. She is beginning to speak!

Thank you all who have sustained and kept Jan constantly in your hearts and minds in so many ways with so many tools and prayers. I am certain she will know of your persistence.

Dearest Jan,
As I read about your first words last night God gave me this song (from my childhood)/scripture to pray.

"Thou I speak with bravest fire, and have the gift to all inspire, and have not love my words are vain, as sounding brass and hopeless gain....Come spirit come our hearts control, our spirits long to be made whole. Let inward love guide every deed, by this we worship and are freed"

You are so brave and you have the gift to inspire us because you have God's unconditional love dwelling within you. Please know that you are surrounded by love, so much love. We thank God for his unconditional love which dwells in you and in all of us. We pray that God will help us all to be vessels of that great love to bring healing to this world.

Love in Christ,
Martha

"If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away all my possessions and if I hand over my body so that I may boast but do not have love, I gain nothing."

My dearest sister Jan,

I thank God everyday for your continued progress. I continue to believe that God is with you and has a plan. I am deeply touched reading about your mobility in the wheelchair, efforts to swallow, your first attempts to write & even SPEAK!!

I am constantly praying for your every day & you are in my thoughts when I read the bible & play the piano daily. You are in my thoughts throughout the day. I can hardly wait to visit you again & tell you how courgeous, intelligient, perservant and loving you are. I know that your strong faith is guiding you through this journey.

Fede you are a true inspiration & blessing to Jan. Jan has searched & searched her whole life & finally found her soulmate in you.

Fede, Steve, Sue, Louise & family I continue to pray for your continued strength, peace of mind & good health.

I miss you so much Jan. But I know that you in my heart & soul always!

Jan,

We're so happy at the things you've been pushing yourself to try and the things you're starting to do.

How great that a few of the words Fede first heard you speak (over the phone) were 'my' 'love'.

All our love, thoughts and prayers continue to head in your way.

We'll increase both in measure for the rehab road in front of you and Fede.

God Bless!

Jim & Brenda
