You are dismissed...

One of the things Jan has mastered is the ability to dismiss me (and I suspect others as well) when she has had enough visiting :) She either closes her eyes or she tells me "Why are you here? Go home now" Hearing her talk a bit more every day is such a pleasure, that even when I am dismissed, it rings like music to my ears.

Being optimistic by what Jan has achieved in four weeks is good for her mind and ours. The facts, however are sobering : she cannot use her right side, which leaves her only her left hand and leg to do everything, from eating to sitting to walking. If you haven't done it, try right now moving around on only one leg and one arm. As you can imagine, this is a major source of frustration for Jan who is used to be totally independent and mobile. Another fact is that even though she is able to formulate words, she still has difficulty communicating all of her ideas clearly. She says a sentence with total clarity and then the next is mixed words with no clear meaning or garbled talk. She can think what she wants to say, but she cannot express it all right now.

Two challenges, both, for Jan and for all of you who support her. For us, a challenge to keep praying for very specific things; for her, to keep the focus and determination to find a new neuropath to do what she needs to do.

Thanks to those in Spain, Mexico, Romania, Florida, California, Alberta, Manitoba and many cities in Ontario who consistently pray for Jan and stop to remember her sruggle to come back.

Jan:

What a hoot to hang out with you and the cousins and Fede and Kelly yesterday. I figure that Kelly is enough of a tonic to wear you out for a couple days! Her rants about Dr. Phil being a fake were hilarious!

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength" is my prayer for you today. Even a broken heart, a weary soul, a confused mind and an ebbing strength are worship when lifted to God. He is your source. Love him with what you have and he will increase it.

Blessings on you my dear friend.

Dear Jan & Fede,

Thank you for your continued updates. It is such a blessing to hear that Jan went outside & her dance with you.

Jan I pray for constantly. As I was praying and thinking about you on Friday night I had a dream about you. Your family & few friends were in a pool swimming with you. You said a few sentences in my dream which I will share with you when I see you. I was deeply touched to hear your voice in my dream.

Jan, I pray that God will keep your spirits up & give you peace & perservance to continue progressing with your communication, mobility etc. I pray for healing for your right side.

I continue to believe that God is with you & has a special plan for you. I especially pray for your strong faith to be with you, Fede & your family.

Love
Sharon

Hi Jan,

It is Janet Russell. I missed you at the Valentine's Dance at Rattle Snake Point Golf and Country Club. I missed you at the Internation Women's Day when we were to have you and Fede at our table for "The Dinner Party". I bought a book from Paula Todd called "Stories of Courage". She was the Speaker at the event. Having gone through some of your trauma with motor vehicle accident brain damage, I have this book waiting to give it to you as soon as I am able. I am handicapped only by what the pain can do to me at present. Therefore I am determined to be there for YOU! I will go with my husband Neil to his downtown job--he has a parking place under Scotia Plaza. I will let him off and then go up to your place on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Spring and Summer when you need someone to take you to Physiotherapy and so on. I can drive for the most part. I have Physiotherapy every Monday, Wednesday and Friday in Burlington but perhaps I can take some of it with you???!!

We can eat together and since I was a teacher, we have that in common as well.

I appreciated the Sanctuary Chapel afternoon a couple of weeks ago. I will come see you as soon as possible. Please call me at 905 469-1280 whenever you can or want to. Love in Christ Jesus as we WALK the JOURNEY.

My dear Jan

I missed visiting with you these past two Mondays, but I had a cold. I pray for you constantly and I thank God every day for holding you in His hands and I also pray for your continued healing on this very long road to recovery. God created human beings to do incredible things. Only He has control over the possibilities.

We love and miss you Jan

To others on the blogspot - please remember - no names, phone numbers, specific details etc. We must protect Jan's privacy. Thank you

HI Jan!
I am continuing to pray for your healing. IN fact I sent a request in at joycemeyer.org. I ended up having to delete half of it because it was too long. Nevertheless your healing is mroe important than mine. My Asperger's SYndrome makes it difficult to understand things at the best of times, especially when there is a lot of stuff going on and I felt bad for having to leave due to feeling overloaded. The cafeteria was a zoo, but at least there weren't any crying babies, just the steady murmer of peoples conversations blending into a monotonous buzz. I basically zoned out and wolfed down my lunch without really tasting anything. I pray that next time we see eachother it will be easier for us to talk to eachother. Hospitals and noisy paces can be draining on me even at the best of times.
Hugs, 'Ret

Jan,

I have been sick with a cold for a few weeks now but can't wait to come and visit you! I read of your progress every day and am so excited for you. I know that you must be frustrated to be in the hospital for so long but I just know that in time you will be back to your self!

I love you and I think about you every day. You are such a beautiful woman and such a best friend to me. I love you.

Love,
Julia

Hi Jan, Fede and Family
I am currently in Calgary for March Break taking in the mountains and I am thinking about you out here and praying for you. Step by Step.

I think the words from the song Step by Step are particularly appropriate today, since I walked about a mile and in reference to your recovery... May God restore you step by step and day by day.

Here are the words:
Oh God you are my God and I will ever praise you. (x2)

I will see you in the morning, and I will learn to walk in your ways, and step by step you'll lead me and I will follow you all of my days.

Praying for God to strengthen you and be your guide to healing every day

love you lots, hugs and songs.
Katy
